Ambiance
Sconce lights create a unique ambiance to any home or commercial building.
Since each sconce is a work of art, don't just pick out the sconce based
on lighting needs. Sconce lighting is known for being more romantic than
traditional lights. One reason is that the soft lighting off the wall
(especially if the wall has some color) will reflect soft colored mood
lighting. The colored light creates a mood to enjoy the company of others
and to get comfortable. Wall sconce lighting is also not usually as bright
as most lighting. When you are in a romantic mood, a glaring 100 watt
white bulb overhead gives a sterile feel. You may even need to squint
your eyes or turn your head to avoid glare. In most cases, the other option
is completely dark (lights off) or a night light. Sconce lights are a
better solution because you get adequate lighting at the appropriate height
and distance from you.
Colors
White clear glass is the preferred color for sconce lighting. The reason
is that the colored tones are difficult for some designers to deal with.
We recommend getting a professional interior decorator to make your colors
work. Color is important in your home. One of the first rules of interior
design is the use of color. The idea of having all walls white or egg
shell color is only a way to sell a home because it looks like a blank
slate. Nobody will love it and nobody will hate it. It's just kind of
sitting there for you to decorate. If you are serious about a beautiful
home you will need to get serious about color. Wall sconces create beautiful
colors that can enhance the tones of your home. You should, however, be
careful in choosing wall colors and sconce shades to make sure you get
the tone you want. In general, choose sconces that create a slightly lighter
tone than surrounding areas. For example, if you have light blue walls
with clouds painted on them, choose a scone that gives a slightly lighter
shade of blue and maybe even white.
Artistic Sconces
Sconces are truly a work of art. They have been around for thousands
of years. If you get a plain old light, you are really selling yourself
short. Many of the most beautiful sconces are handmade out of iron, stone,
and ceramic materials. Some people even prefer to have their sconce hand
made by an artisan. It is relatively simple to make a light out of almost
any material. You simply drill a hole and insert the wires and bulb module.
For this reason, if you are looking for a handmade item, look for someone
who is good with metal and glass. Don't worry about their electrical skills.
If you need to, just call an electrician.
